Information: www.TheAccolade.net
Now in its eighth year, top-tier, international awards competition, The Accolade, announces its Call for Entries for filmmakers, television producers and videographers.
The Accolade is unique; it is an awards competition, not a traditional film festival. Awards go to those filmmakers, television producers and videographers who produce fresh, standout entertainment, animation and compelling documentaries. It is a showcase for cinematic gems and unique voices.
Most importantly, The Accolade team works passionately to help worthy productions gain the publicity and distribution they deserve. That is what The Accolade is all about: helping winners of this coveted award achieve recognition and distribution opportunities.
Every filmmaker, television producer and videographer wants credibility associated with their work and buzz about their productions. The Accolade sends information about Accolade winners via email to over 25,000 industry professionals. The Accolade is an award recognized for its rigorous evaluation process by buyers and distributors, inspiring confidence that winning productions are of high quality.
Quality and creativity are celebrated in three levels of awards: Best of Show, Award of Excellence and Award of Merit. Best of Show honors are granted only if worthy productions are discovered. Likewise, no more than 15% of entries are granted Awards of Excellence. Notable artistic and technical productions are recognized at the Award of Merit level. Annually, a special award is given to a production that makes a significant contribution to social change or a humanitarian effort.
The Accolade receives entries from all over the world: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Guam, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Malta, Martinique, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States and Venezuela.

For Immediate Release - November 18, 2009
Dallas Selected as Location for New Television Series
"Jack and Dan" from Fox TV Studios Series to Air on FOX
DALLAS – Fox Television Studios has selected Dallas to be the location for Jack and Dan, its new one-hour, action/comedy series to air on FOX. Created by Matt Nix (Burn Notice) who is executive-producing along with Mikkel Bondesen, Jack and Dan will be set in Dallas and filmed at locations throughout the city. Fox Television Studios’ production offices for the series also will be based in Dallas.
"Hollywood is catching on that Dallas has a lot to offer including incentives, an affordable economy, mild climate, interesting architecture and skyline, and a welcoming attitude towards their creative efforts," said Mayor Tom Leppert.
Bradley Whitford (West Wing) will star alongside Colin Hanks (Mad Men, Roswell). Hanks will play "Jack," a by-the-book police detective who is partnered with the wild-card cop "Dan," played by Whitford. The series will air on FOX (Channel 4 locally).
This was a hard-fought win for Dallas, with the city of Atlanta its primary competition (Georgia’s incentive program provides for a 30% tax credit, nearly double Texas’ program).
Bob Lemchen, senior vice president, production, Fox TV Studios, said, "Creatively, Dallas offered us terrific shooting locations, as well as a great crew base. The city also extended itself to us with enormous hospitality and commitment to making it all work. So for us, Dallas is simply a great place to shoot."
Jack and Dan has been picked up by FOX for 13 episodes and is expected to shoot 96 days total in its first season. The show will have a significant financial impact on the city and create many jobs for crew, actors, extras and vendors during the course of production. The producers are currently interviewing crew and looking for office space. Pre-production will begin immediately with shooting set to begin in January.

The Indie Fest is unique; it's an awards competition, not a traditional film festival. Winners receive publicity as we broadcast the list of winners via press releases and to our email database of more than 27,000 filmmakers and industry insiders. Winning an Indie will help you get noticed.
Entries are judged against high standards of excellence and against each other. The Indie Fest provides an equal chance of winning for all entrants, regardless of size and budget. Entries are judged on quality of craft and creativity. The Indie Fest is a showcase for cinematic gems and unique voices.
There are three levels of awards: Best of Show, Award of Excellence and Award of Merit. No more than 15% of entries will be granted Awards of Excellence. Like most traditional festivals, the first round of judging takes place internally and is a screening to find those productions that have outstanding craft, i.e., cinematography/videography, sound, editing, etc. Many films wash-out during phase. Those productions that survive are evaluated to find the films that excel at storytelling, entertainment and communication. Entries judged to be potential Best of Show winners may be sent to outside judges for additional review. Judging standards are high and selective.

State Film Office heads to Morgantown and Fairmont with community-oriented workshops
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Film Office will sponsor half-day workshops in Morgantown and Fairmont on August 24 and August 25, respectively, on issues related to the film industry and, particularly, how communities can work with the Film Office to recruit more film production to the state.
The Morgantown workshop begins on Monday, August 24 at 1:30 p.m. and wraps by 5 p.m. at the Ramada Inn, 20 Scott Avenue. The Fairmont workshop begins on Tuesday, August 25 at 8:30 a.m. and wraps by noon at the Fairfield Inn, 27 Southland Drive. The workshop is free and open to the public. RSVPs are requested. To register, contact Misty Dailey at 304-558-2200, ext. 366, or by e-mail at misty.g.dailey@wv.gov.
"As West Virginia becomes a more popular place to shoot feature films, television programs, music videos and commercials because of its tax incentive program, it has become increasingly more important for the Film Office to reach out to communities and community leaders to better prepare them when their region is chosen for filming," said Pam Haynes, director of the Film Office.
Haynes encourages academic instructors for film/television studies, members of convention and visitor bureaus, chambers of commerce, economic development authorities, mayors and city managers, county managers and commissioners, film and video production companies, and freelance film crew to attend.
“This is a great opportunity for our businesses and community leaders to learn more about how producers choose filming locations and how our communities can support the film office's efforts to draw more film business into the state," said Marianne Moran, director of the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Marion County.
Cindy Coffindaffer agreed with Moran. Coffindaffer, who is the community relations and marketing director for the Greater Morgantown Convention & Visitors Bureau, attended this workshop in Charleston last year and said the information offered is a great tool for anyone interested in becoming involved in the film industry as well as for property owners who would like to make their homes or businesses available for filming locations.
Jamie Cope, location services manager for the Film Office, explained that an increase in filming activity is a result of tax credit incentives recently passed by the West Virginia Legislature. "The incentives allow the Film Office to be more competitive with other states in recruiting film productions," he said.
Cope said the workshop, titled "Business of Film: Paths to Opportunity,” will provide an overview of the tax incentives and how they will benefit West Virginia businesses, how communities may become film friendly, what to expect and how to handle filming when it knocks on the door, and how to work effectively with the Film Office. A brief tutorial on location scouting also will be highlighted, and there will be an assortment of helpful handouts.
Haynes said additional workshops are slated in the coming months in other cities across the state. The workshop has been previously presented in Charleston, Follansbee, Huntington, Lost River, Martinsburg, Weirton and Wheeling. She added that the Film Office will conduct the workshops in any county or community where interest and participation would be significant.

State Film Office heads to Northern Panhandle with community-oriented workshops
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Film Office will sponsor two free half-day workshops in the Northern Panhandle to help counties and municipalities learn what to expect when filming occurs in their communities and how they can become known as a "film-friendly" location.
"As West Virginia becomes a more popular place to shoot feature films, television programs, music videos and commercials, it is important for the Film Office to reach out to communities and community leaders to better prepare them when their region is chosen for filming," said Pam Haynes, director of the Film Office.
The workshops are free and open to the public. Haynes said she encourages representatives of convention and visitor bureaus, chambers of commerce, economic development authorities, mayors and city managers, county managers and commissioners, film and video production companies, and freelance film crew to attend.
The workshops are scheduled for May 19 in Weirton and May 20 in Follansbee, said Jamie Cope, location services manager for the Film Office. Cope said the Film Office presented similar workshops last fall in Wheeling, Martinsburg, and Charleston.
Cope explained that an expected increase in filming activity relates to tax credit incentives recently passed by the West Virginia Legislature. "The incentives allow the Film Office to participate more competitively with other states to recruit film production to West Virginia," he said.
Haynes said the workshop, titled "Business of Film: Paths to Opportunity,” will provide an overview of the tax incentives and how they will benefit West Virginia businesses, how communities may become film friendly, what to expect and how to handle filming when it knocks on the door, and how to work effectively with the Film Office. A brief tutorial on location scouting also will be highlighted, and there will be an assortment of helpful handouts.
The current schedule is as follows:
-- Tuesday, May 19, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Holiday Inn, 350 Three Spring Drive, Weirton
-- Wednesday, May 20, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Community House at Follansbee City Park, State Route 2, Follansbee
Haynes said additional workshops are slated for July, August and September in other cities across the state. She also added that the Film Office will conduct the workshops in any county or community where interest and participation would be significant.

| The Indie Fest: Call for Entries |
Download the entry form at: www.TheIndieFest.com
The Indie Fest is an independent, top-tier international film awards competition. The goal of the Indie Fest is to give filmmakers publicity and distribution opportunities.
The Indie Fest came about as the result of hearing independent filmmakers say again and again that they've traveled the film festival circuit and have nothing to show for it in terms of distribution. Indie Fest staff members attend film markets to develop relationships with distributors who sell the rights to films and documentaries into territories around the world. Many distributors are unwilling to work with independents and will only represent work produced by the studios. Over the years we have focused on identifying and developing relationships with reputable distributors who are willing to work with independents.
How you will benefit: If you win an Indie Fest award you will benefit from our dedicated focus and from our relationships with indie-friendly distributors. You will also receive publicity as we broadcast the list of winners via press releases and to our email database of more than 28,000 filmmakers and industry insiders. Winning an Indie will help you get noticed.
Entries are judged against high standards of excellence and against each other. The Indie Fest provides an equal chance of winning for all entrants, regardless of size and budget. | SEEKING Actors, Models in San Diego, California for Free Photo Shoot |
Photographer in the San Diego Area seeking all types for photography shoot. I'd like to start building some experience and a portfolio for photography.
We are offering select people in the San Diego area--or who are willing to travel to the San Diego area--a free photo shoot. We are seeking male and female character types, entertainers, and models who are seeking to build their portfolio and who do not have a lot of money to pay to have it done professionally.
We will meet somewhere in the San Diego area, and spend a minimum of 4 hours to do the photo shoot. I would be accompanied by my second photographer, and she would also be shooting during the session.
Each photo would be a high-resolution digital photo capable of being used for prints up to 16x20. Over the course of a 4-hour session, we would probably shoot several hundred photos, and you'd have all the originals--both good and bad--to choose pictures from to add or start your own portfolio. If you'd like to do a photo shoot with another person, such as an engagement-style photo shoot, or a family that would be OK.
Because we are seeking to expand our photography experience and portfolio in this field of, we are offering this to you at no charge. All it will cost you, if you are selected, is your time. In return, you'll get a bunch of free photos on DVD.
If you are interested, send an email message to chrisjo@msn.com, be sure to include a photo no larger than 500x500 pixels or 50kb in size, the type of photo shoot you're interested in doing and why, your contact info, and, if you have a resume, you can paste it into the body of your email. No attachments, please, other than the photo.
If you are selected, we will contact you to discuss details.
