Boston Casting Company is looking for people to play doctors, nurses, lawyers, court officers, police and, yes, older hippies in the film "Edge of Darkness," some of which will be filmed in and around Northampton this fall. The plot involves a Boston police officer (Gibson) who witnesses the brutal murder of his daughter. His investigation pulls him into a world of government cover-ups and corporate intrigue (Northampton).

The open call will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center on Atwood Drive. The company is hiring both union and non-union actors.

film is looking for "punks" between the ages of 18 and 22, gym employees, a court stenographer and a man in a wheelchair. It could use also seniors for a scene involving a stretching class and women who are comfortable sitting around locker rooms in towels.

Prospective extras must be 18 or older. People trying out may dress for specific roles, but there is no required attire. The company is looking for a certain authenticity, however, particularly with the older hippies.

Non-union extras are paid $112 for a 12-hour day. Union actors get $130 for eight hours and overtime after that. Everyone must bring a head shot and a resume.

Nurse Ruth Jorges age 53 female (accepting ages mid 40's through 60's) Background: Ruth Jorges, is married with a fear of retirement and medical bills. Her husband is constantly in the hospital for one reason or another, and the bills are racking up. She suffers debilitating arthritis and can see the end of her career soon.
Antagonist Bradley Douglas age 25 (accepting 20 - 35 must be small in size and young looking) Background: Bradley is a pyro, he loves to start fires, it amuses him to no end there is little known about his history and he rarely talks but tends to laugh sadistically while things burn BUT he has a sympathetic side too and notices things around him.
